The Drawbridge Puppet Theater will be running creative workshops the third full weekend of every month between the public puppet shows. There will be a small $5.00 fee to cover expenses.

Project: Make your own Multicolor Shadow Puppet

On August 15th & 16th, Drawbridge Theater will be continuing our series of monthly workshops which will take place the first weekend of each month. These workshops will last approximately 40 minutes and run from 10:50 to 11:30; so they can fit in between the public puppet shows. They'll take place in the birthday party room here at the theater.

The August workshop will feature making your very own multicolor shadow puppet. Children trace out their shadow figure on black card stock paper, including any openings where they want color material to show through. They can then fill these openings with cellophane, tissue paper, or tracing paper in a variety of colors – all of which will show up magnificently when placed in front of a light. They can even add movable arms, legs, wings, tentacles or any other part they wish their puppet to have. At the conclusion of the workshop each child gets to hold their puppet up against a lighted shadow screen so they can see and work their final creation. The cost for the workshop is $5.00 per participant, and this includes all the materials. Adults are welcome to join in and make a shadow puppet as well.

To sign up for this workshop just ask one of our staff. You may also reserve your spot by emailing us or calling the theater. We'll need to know your name, phone number, and the number of people (children and adults) who'll be actually making a puppet. Observers and helpers need not be counted in this number, and of course won't be charged.

Space is limited so sign up soon. And of course, add to the fun by catching the puppet show either before or after the workshop. August's feature is “Rumpelstiltskin.” Please note: Reservations for the puppet shows need to be made separately from those for the workshops.
